Embroidery

I am a bit behind on get these posts up but since they are related we will just pretend that it was all highly thought out...

For this Cocktails and Craft session we decided to tackle embroidery! It seemed like an inexpensive craft that could be easily put down to chase little ones. I found this great book called Sublime Stitching by Jenny Hart and also got the Craft Pad by the same author. I love these books because they offer simple instructions and Mexican wrestling masks and tattoo inspired iron on patterns. I don't think I would have been nearly as interested in trying embroidery if all I could choose from were flowers and the days of the week.

The drink this week - the classic mimosa. I think this drink is so yummy but also makes you feel not so bad about consuming alcohol before noon since it is considered an acceptable breakfast drink.

Ingredients:
Champagne
Orange juice

Combine in whatever combination you feel good about and enjoy. You are supposed to serve in champagne flutes to make the bubbles last longer but I don't own said flutes so juice cups it was!

We all picked these cute little birds to start off with.

Simply cut out. Warm up fabric with iron, apply transfer to fabric and hit with the iron again.
NOTE TO SELF: Do not move iron around a lot because it will create a double image as you will see on my finished project.

The image after being ironed on correctly...

Here is my friend Jayna's finished project. She worked on a knit which was a little more difficult but the finished project is really adorable.

Here is my first attempt. (Notice the double image) I also had to watch a couple YouTube videos to figure out how to make a french knot but in the end victory was mine.

After learning how to embroider I then started to search my closet for things to embellish - this could get dangerous. I foresee some Mexican wrestling masks on my husbands underwear in the near future.

Sar, I love the pattern! Mom taught me how to embroider when I was much younger and I enjoyed it. But like you, the flowers and calendars can only go so far. I'll have to check out your suggested readings!
