Don't be fooled by the picture, the cake tastes amazing. I failed to grease the pan enough or let them sit too long before getting them out of the pan. I tried some surgery with frosting but frosting couldn't save this disaster.
If you can get past the photo and take my word that it really does taste good then check out the recipe after the picture. It is my take on a white cake recipe from AllRecipe.com.
Ingredients:
2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup shortening 4 eggs 4 teaspoons vanilla extract
| 3 cups all-purpose flour 3.5 teaspoons baking powder 1 1/2 cup milk |
What do you use for frosting? I am so unsatisfied with the frosting I buy. Do you make your own or have a brand that tastes especially good?

ReplyDeleteI confess, this is store bought. I have had it in my cupboard for a while and while I WANT to not use store bought frosting I normally end up with that in the cart. I buy the store brand and then mix it up with my hand mixer to make it fluffier.
I do have a peanut butter frosting recipe I love and will try and dig up. It makes a great filling for chocolate cake paired with chocolate frosting.
what the.....store bought frosting? My friend, I want to call you right now at 11pm and give you my most treasured frosting recipe. It's da bomb. 10 minutes in the pan tops, then the cake needs to come out. Lube is important, but you already know that:) Please, please promise never to buy that crap again.
